meet the locals / 5

When Ersi first came to London was holding the key of a shared apartment located in Dalston. She neither had read the ItalianVogue proclaiming Dalston the “coolest place in Britain”, nor had the slightest idea that “trendy” would be the term to describe best, her new neighbourhood. She struggled to become accustomed to a new life settled between kebab restaurants, fashion frequents, art galleries and pound shops.  She loved the multicultural, vibrant and mixed atmosphere without reading posh magazines and real estate news where Dalston was making headlines. She valued the E8 postcode highly, totally undistracted and completely sure that she would, one day come back whether it is, or not, in vogue.

 1. Breakfast at Beyond Retro CaféThis coffee shop is unlike any other! Comfy chairs, loads of light, funky vibes, tons of character and yummy sweet and savoy dishes. We ordered (twice) the chocolate brownie and the roasted beef, avocado sandwich. Their coffee is fair trade and delicious so you get the perfect dose of caffeine to begin your day . Don’t miss to hunt some real vintage gems from the shop next door. It’s hard to leave their cosy armchairs, I’m warning you!

2. Wandering around Ridley Road Market: Situated right at the centre of  Dalston town, this mixed market offers from and excellent selection of exotic food and grocery to cheap training shoes and washing up liquid . It can get super crowded during Saturdays but very interesting if you don’t have to check a shopping list.

3. A Dalston Superstore ExperiencePop in for a drink or dinner to gain powers before and endless night on it’s mythical dance-floor . It’s a colourful, bright and quirky-chic place that puts you in a great mood even if  you pass their neon sign for just a soda!
